On Saturday, July 27th, join Rock Violinist Adam DeGraff for a performance at the Historic Bluefield Arts Center in downtown Bluefield. This is a dinner and concert, sponsored by Greenbrier Brewing Company. Enjoy a night of plentiful nosh, music, and brews in a commanding three-story, Neo-Classical Revival structure overlooking Bluefield’s historic downtown district. The center’s Great Hall has been proclaimed as quite possibly the most beautiful room in West Virginia.

DeGraff has mastered the art of blending the violin and rock music. He’s an American violinist, composer, producer, and educator, and has spent part of his career as a first-chair professional orchestral musician. Since then, he has experimented with rock violin, live lopping, alternative music and more. Adam tells us that he’s very excited to play at such a great venue in his home state. What will you be performing at this concert?

This concert will feature exactly what I will be performing on my 2019-2020 US tour. I call it “Rock Violin Neat” as it is basically everything I can make a violin do, all songs I’ve written, including violin versions of rock drum, rock bass, lead vocals, etc…. but all with a violin, only with a violin. It’s the most creative thing I’ve ever done and I’m really excited to share it with a home state audience before I shove off for this tour!

Why do you encourage Greenbrier, Monroe, + Pocahontas folks to see your concert in Bluefield?

Great question! Bluefield is doing some very inspiring things. I can’t say enough good things about how seriously the folks at the Bluefield Arts Center are about making the arts an integral part of their community. Mix that with a strong sense of West Virginia pride, and some folks that have donated heavily toward revitalizing their community, and you’ve got a plan for success. That they saw fit to include me on their performance series is truly an honor. Often times artists never get to play the great venues in their home area because they are “local.” Not the case in Bluefield. They seem excited by the fact that I play all over the world and have treated me with the same kindness and respect that I see while I’m on the road.

The evening’s dinner will be prepared by David’s Downtown, a restaurant located inside the arts center. They regularly serve large crowds and provide catering services throughout Mercer County. The July 27th dinner menu includes Strawberry Spinach Salad, Scallops and Potatoes, Pretzel Encrusted Chicken. The evening’s desserts are Confetti Corn Pudding and Caramel Praline Cake.
