Alderson Fourth of July Celebration Returns for 62nd Year

Wild, Wonderful, and Free in 2023

 Every year, our small town of Alderson turns red, white, and blue and hosts what has become known as West Virginia’s BEST Fourth of July Celebration. This event features everything from a Fireman’s Rodeo, to an All-American Baking Contest, to the Ducks on the River Rubber Duck Race. And, of course, a Grand Parade and a Grand Fireworks Display! So come celebrate with us in Alderson as we observe a Wild, Wonderful & Free Independence Day!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

1:00 p.m.: Judging Home and Business Decorating Contest – Best 4th of July themed decorations! To register please call 304-445-7210 before 10am on June 28th. This is for homes and businesses. Contact: Brenda Gabbert (304-445-7210)

FRIDAY, JUNE 30

7 p.m. to 10 p.m.: Firemen’s Rodeo – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) Free Admission, Come watch local and surrounding fire departments compete – Sponsored by Alderson Fire Department & EMS, Contact: Rick Honaker (304-445-7420)

SATURDAY, JULY 1

7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.: Run for Snacks 5K Registration – (Alderson Memorial Football Field)

12 p.m. to 1 p.m.: All American Baking Contest – (Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church) Entries must be dropped off between Noon – 1:00 p.m. 2023 Theme: Best decorated 4th of July cake. 1:00 p.m.: 7th Annual Horse Show – Held at 117 Greenbrier River Estates, Alderson, WV 24910, (Glen Ray Road) Registration will start at 10:00 a.m.- $10 Entry Fee except for class 4 and championship classes. Class 4 will be $5.00. Class 26 bring your own dollar. Championship classes will be $25.00. Payouts will be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ribbon 4th and 5th. Negative coggins required. 8:00 a.m.: Parade Line Up – (Alderson Elementary School on Virginia St.) line up depends on arrival. The Presentation of Colors will be held at 1 p.m. on July 4.

10:00 p.m.: Grand Fireworks Display – (Alderson Memorial Football Field) The Alderson Fire Department will put on the best show in Greenbrier County featuring a marvelous fireworks show. Admission: $5 per person for show & fireworks. Children 6 & under FREE.
