When I say, “service” you say…………. ? Look up the word and many definitions will surface. My favorite definition is “service: the contribution to the welfare of others”. Service is everywhere in our daily lives, yet it takes ritual and social pressure for many of us to acknowledge, appreciate and demonstrate gratitude for so many who contribute to our welfare.
Well, yes, many situations call for “tips”. Some of us struggle over “When, Why and How much?” Sometimes people are paid for service and get ignored yet their M.O. every workday is to “contribute to the welfare of others”.
Then there’s armed service, public service, volunteer service, political service, self-service, etc.
Washington Street and our Greenbrier Valley Community exemplify, celebrate and take “SERVICE” to a whole new level. The appropriate response is, “Thank you!”
