From November to the end of December, White Sulphur Springs native and Lewisburg resident Karen Ayers will present her landscape paintings at the Thistle Lounge at the General Lewis Inn in Lewisburg. Karen received her BFA at the Virginia Commonwealth University and studied painting, printmaking and photography. She received her certificate in graphic art from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.

Karen recently retired from her work as a graphic artist/photographer at WVSOM. Karen says, “I paint for the thrill of pushing globs of paint around on canvas. All early-mid-twentieth century painting has influenced me. However, now that I have started to paint after years of photographing, I have eased back into impressionist landscaping.”

The General Lewis Inn is located on Washington Street in Lewisburg, and is open seven days a week for viewing artwork. The Thistle Lounge is open every night from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. There will be a Meet and Greet with Karen Ayers on First Friday, December 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
