This Memorial Day Weekend, don’t miss the 4th Annual Strawberry Festival that celebrates local produce filled with good music, good food, and fun activities for the whole family in downtown Alderson. On Saturday, May 25th, 9am-5pm, festival-goers will enjoy a slew of fun activities including a scavenger hunt (for kids and adults!), vendors, unicorn rides by the Renaissance Festival, a Dessert Competition and much more! Also, the strawberry patch at Sunset Berry Farms is only 4 miles from the festival location and you are welcome to tour the strawberry farm and pick their own strawberries!

For those who like to get an early start, there will be a Pancake Breakfast featuring strawberry syrup, from 7:30a-10:30am at the Alderson Volunteer Fire Department. This is a fundraiser for the fire department. In the afternoon, there will be corn dogs, kettle corn, strawberry shortcake, strawberry ice cream, strawberry lemonade, red velvet waffles, and local/fresh strawberries from local Sunset Berry Farms, winner of 2018’s Sweetest Berry in West Virginia contest.

The music line-up for the day includes Emmalea Deal from 9am-12pm, Goodson Boys from 1pm-3pm, and the Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys from 4pm-6pm.

At 10:30am, there will be a Corn Hole Competition and a Dessert Contest (please submit your entry by 10am to the Methodist Church). Dessert entries will be auctioned at noon. There will be a raffle of gift cards to local shops and eateries valued over $100 and raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the day. Yard sales will be held throughout the town and the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church will host its annual Flea Market.

Kids activities will be centered at the Visitors Center and include Unicorn Rides provided by the WV Renaissance Festival. There will be a Scavenger Hunt with prizes. There will also be field activities including a Hula Hoop Competition, 12pm, a Jump Rope Competition, 12:30pm, and a Strawberry Crawl, 1pm.

All festival goers are invited to participate in a Strawberry Themed Walking Parade starting at the Alderson Visitor Center at 12:30pm. Put on your strawberry costume and decorate your wagons! The parade will walk across the bridge to the gazebo for crowning of the Queen & King. The Strawberry King & Queen will lead the walking parade back across the bridge to end at the Visitor Center.
