Lee Street Studio artist, Emily Coleman, has pursued art since age 4. Her youth was spent in extremely rural West Virginia, where being home-schooled and having no TV allowed for lots of time to devote to drawing and her imagination. After completing her BFA and starting a family, she returned to her home state to pursue a life of art. Her pieces are true mixed media. She blends elements from all of the different specialties that she has studied. In her portraits, Emily captures that un-nameable thing in her subjects that makes them special, a look, a smile, that spark. She truly likes to gild the lily, taking something beautiful and making even more so.
Reviving the original Lee Street High School to continue its history of educating and contributing to the community, Lee Street Studio’s mission is to support the careers of regional artists of different mediums. As a part of this we are offering art openings and sales to promote the works of our very talented artists.
The public is invited to be a part of this celebration and enjoy refreshments while shopping unique works of art. Starting Wednesday, November 1st, Barbara Miller will offer Portraiture Pastel Drawing Classes from 2-4pm. This class will be held every Wednesday in November.
