On the evening of Saturday October 10th, the Lewis Theatre will be the staging ground for Pink Zeppelin featuring some of the most iconic music of the late 60s and 70s.
What is Pink Zeppelin you ask? Guitarist, Shane Allen, came up with the idea to get a group of local musicians together to perform the music of two of his favorite bands, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. So, he made a few phone calls and soon after his Pink Zeppelin idea came to fruition.
In addition to Shane, the group consists of Billy Ayres on drums, Brian Carr on keyboards and trombone, Daryl Clemons on bass, Birch Graves on saxophone, and Lynda Allen on vocals. Interestingly enough, even though everyone involved is a veteran of the local music scene and have performed together in different combinations, the six of them have never all played together before. However, there is a deep love and appreciation for this music among all the band members, which made it evident from the first rehearsal this was going to be something special.
In fact, the hardest task given the amount of material available to choose from was selecting what songs to perform. The song selections you will be treated to will be a good mix of more well-known tunes as well as some deeper album cuts. The goal behind this project is simple, to pay homage to two of the greatest rock-n-roll bands of all time and give people a memorable musical experience. This one-time performance will feature around three hours of music broken into two sets, one dedicated to Pink Floyd and one dedicated to Led Zeppelin. The show will also feature a few special guests. So, after you enjoy the Taste of Our Town festival earlier that day, be sure to come out that evening to support local live music and join in the celebration. Show starts at 8pm. $10 at the door.
The Lewis is located at 113 N Court St, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
