Washington DC native Owen Danoff will be performing at the Irish Pub on Thursday, Sept 17th from 7-10pm! In the DC area alone Owen has performed at nearly every major venue including the Birchmere and the 9:30 club, been selected as a Strathmore Artist in Residence, won multiple Washington Area Music Awards as well as the Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards Grand Prize, and been mentioned multiple times in local media outlets such as the Washington Post.
Elements of Owen’s music have been likened to that of Paul Simon, Harry Nilsson, John Mayer, and the Wallflowers, among others – though the end result is all his own. Growing up listening to rock and roll bands such as Green Day before discovering a love of folk and singer/songwriter music, Owen’s music boasts a current of energy as well as catchy melodies and a definite lyrical emphasis.
Owen’s first full-length album Twelve Stories is a testament to both his songwriting and instrumental abilities. Released in May 2014, Twelve Stories features Owen switching off between bass and guitar alongside a band that includes guest musicians such as Rami Jaffee and Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters.
Owen is an award-winning songwriter whose accolades include the aforementioned Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards Grand Prize and Washington Area Music Awards (Pop/Rock Vocalist 2014, Pop/Rock Instrumentalist 2014, and Pop/Rock Recording 2014 for Twelve Stories), as well as first place in the American Songwriter Magazine Lyric Writing Contest and numerous awards and mentions in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. She was born and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and is no stranger to hard work and the entrepreneurial spirit. In 2006, she graduated from Quinnipiac University (Hamden, Connecticut), Cum Laude, with a B.A. in History. In 2010, she graduated with an M.B.A. from Liberty University (Lynchburg, Virginia). In February 2012, Christina launched HashtagWV as the area’s first full-color, free arts and entertainment tabloid + online platform. Christina completed the Leadership West Virginia class of 2021, which is an innovative program that grows, engages, and mobilizes leaders to ignite a life passion to move West Virginia forward.
