This March, Meet the Damsel in Distress

You are invited to grab a pint and join Appalachian Outlaws’ mountain woman, Willow Kelly, at the Irish Pub to watch season 2 every Monday night. Kelly, a Lewisburg native, is characterized on the show as a “damsel in distress” and she is featured in episodes 6, 9, and 10 dealing with poachers on her property. She describes herself as an entrepreneur and her professional background includes farming, jewelry making, and now reality television!

Shake off that cabin fever and join us if you can! – Willow Kelly

Kelly thoroughly enjoyed her time filming on the show in October/November, 2014 and she would love to do it again. She is quoted saying, “The experience was just like ‘playing’ and having fun. I’m really embracing this character. It’s so much fun and educational.” Fellow cast-member, Mike Ross, is also native to the area as he grew up in Greenbrier County. In 2014, LBSPY columnist Jim Shock interviewed Ross. He said producers contacted him in 2013 when the series was in early development. Ross, too, enjoys being on the show and he loves his home state of West Virginia. He told us, “The best part about West Virginia is that our people are strong and sufficient. No one can bring us down.” While he’s climbing the ladder of success with Appalachian Outlaws, Ross is working to lift as many West Virginians up as he can. While filming, the Irish Pub was one of many Lewisburg businesses where the shows’ production crews and producers spent their working and recreational time. To continue to see their favorite outlaws, they are serving up the Guinness with Kelly and tuning into the History Channels’ Appalachian Outlaws every Monday night at 10pm.

If you cannot make it the pub, find the show on the History Channel or stream it online at history.com/shows/appalachian-outlaws/episodes. The Irish Pub is located on E. Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg. irishpubonwashingtonstreet.com.
