You’re invited to an educational seminar called, “Plans, Patents, & Pitches” held inside the student lounge at New River Community and Technical College on Thursday, January 9th at 5:30pm. In a 2 part seminar, you’ll learn the “Nuts and Bolts of Business Planning”, “How to Enhance Your Pitch for the Entrepreneur Café,” a competition for seed funding, and “Patents and Copyrights.” Refreshments will be provided by Shoney’s. This seminar will feature New River Entrepreneur Instructional Specialist, Jill Holliday (pictured) and Business Coach with the WV Small Business Development Center, Justin Gaull.
The first part of the seminar is geared toward business owners, new entrepreneurs, and students as Holliday will give details on how to develop a business plan. Future applicants for the February 18 Entrepreneur Café can learn how to provide more details to enhance their five minute pitches during this competition. Students will benefit by learning how to hone business plans to be contenders for upcoming College and High School Business Plan Competitions, which can yield sizable scholarships and prize awards.
The second part of the program, beginning at approximately 7pm, is not only a great informational session for entrepreneurs and innovators, but also for professionals, such as CPA’s and attorneys. You’ll learn about the different types of patents and copyrights and how to obtain them. Gaull will provide a detailed overview about this topic and give you all the available information and resources.
This seminar is sponsored by New River Community and Technical College in cooperation with the Greater Greenbrier Chamber and Greenbrier Valley Economic Development. This partnership will be presenting the 4th Greenbrier Valley Entrepreneur Café on February 18th. To apply for the Café or to register for this event, please go to gvecafe.com or call 304-667-7027.
