A lovely 88 year old female came into the office a little over a month ago seeking help for a chronic neck condition. She explained that she had been in an auto accident in March of 2011. She reported a front end collision occurred that resulted in an air bag deployment which struck her head and upper body. Initially, she experienced no particular pain. Two weeks later she began having some pain and numbness across the head, neck, and upper shoulder. She was given medications for several months and was eventually referred for six weeks of physical therapy in the summer of 2012 with some temporary relief. In addition to the neck and head complaints, she began suffering from gastrointestinal problems and episodes of profuse sweating and sometimes fainting spells in which she had been hospitalized three different times due to severe stomach pain.
This lady’s chiropractic exam revealed decreased head and neck motion and exceptionally tight and tender neck muscles particularly those that support the head. Advanced degenerative arthritis and loss of bone density were evident on x-ray. Chiropractic analysis found upper neck and sacral vertebral misalignments. Additionally, a weakened stomach reflex was found to be related to the neck problem.
After the second treatment consisting of specific low force spinal adjustments, and additional therapeutic LLLTH (low level laser) and hands on neuromuscular balancing techniques, this lady began to experience noticeable relief. Further nutritional evaluation found a substantial deficiency of minerals necessary to balance the autonomic nervous system. She began taking the correct nutritional supplement and has experienced relief not only from her primary complaint of head and neck pain, but also significant improvement in both her gastro intestinal symptoms and the sweating/fainting spells. Earlier this week, this smiling lovely lady reported that she had had no symptoms for this past week! Anything can cause anything!
“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet, and the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas A. Edison (1847-1931)
