My Dog & I… have been on the road this year. From Vermont to Iowa, stopping in Washington DC, running up to Manhattan and finally coming to rest here in Lovely Lewisburg, WV.
After all our adventures, my dog, Banksie would like to stop for a while and smell the ….roses– well, the doggy equivalent! He has been a great partner in our adventures – putting up with hotel rooms, miles of car travel, strange surroundings and an assortment of new folk, human and canine!
As a “professional” dog, his job is to maintain his cool when faced with new situations and support his human (ME), whatever scenario we find ourselves in. In an easy-going place like Lewisburg, this is mostly not too hard for him….. (I just got a hard stare, reminding me about that little Scottish Terrier)…but Uptown Manhattan can be challenging! He has managed to conduct himself with dignity and a sense of humor, taking the changes in stride. I adopted my dog about a year ago and although I would probably not have chosen a Weimeraner (another hard stare) as my canine sidekick, our recent experiences have shown me AGAIN, that it’s not about what type of being you are but how you handle what life throws at you.
So My Dog & I have arrived in Lewisburg at a great time in the Canine Timeline, with new “Dog Stuff” going on all over town. Big Events at the Dog Shelter, Fancy Dress “Pawrades”, lots of new puppies and a growing appreciation for the important role our dogs play in our lives. (I just got an “appreciative” lick…). And My Dog & I, in return for the wonderful welcome Lewisburg has given us, would like to offer our opinions and perspectives about some of the challenges Your Dog & You face as you try to handle what life throws at you!!
We’ll also fill you in on any dog events we hear about and relate some of our adventures as we settle in. Maybe some of our experiences will help you with some of yours….Looking forward to hearing from you all.
