EVENT: DARE to CRUZ Car Show
WHERE: Downtown Lewisburg, WV
WHEN: Saturday, September 14th, 2013
We’re approaching autumn and the days are slowly becoming shorter and the nights cooler. What better way to spend a fun end of summer day than taking a blast into the past at the DARE to CRUZ Car Show in downtown Lewisburg on Saturday, September 14th, from 10am-2pm. You’ll get a taste of the local community and its businesses and you might just be reminded that small town life is thriving here in beautiful Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
If you’re a fan of classic cars, especially those from the 50’s and 60’s vintage, this car show is a must do. Throughout the downtown streets you and your family can admire the lovingly restored machines, all shiny and glistening.
You’ll see all types of vehicles including foreign, antiques, muscle cars, street rods, trucks, and motorcycles. Greenbrier Motors from Fairlea, and pictured throughout this article, is joining in on the excitement and will showcase a few of their favorite classic American beauties from their collection.
Even if you’re not particularly enamored with cars, there will still be plenty of fun at this event. Jim’s Drive-In will have a tent selling barbeque, hot dogs, and drinks. There will also be door prizes, t-shirt giveaways, and an awards ceremony held at 1:30pm. Specialty awards include: “Merchant’s Choice, “Lewisburg PD’s Choice,” “DARE Officer’s Choice,” and “Mayor’s Choice.”
The DARE to CRUZ Car Show will be a pleasant dose of nostalgia for everyone. You’ll be taken back to a time when cars were cars, cruising was safe, and the SUV wasn’t a ubiquitous acronym. This show is sponsored by the Lewisburg Police Department. All proceeds benefit the Greenbrier County Drug Abuse Resistance Education “DARE” program taught in Elementary Schools. If you’de like to enter your vehicle, entry fee is $10. Parking spaces are first come, first serve. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is recommended and forms may be found on the Dare to Cruz website.
