EVENT: The Company Stores
WHERE: Sweet Shoppe in Lewisburg, West Virginia
WHEN: Friday, August 16th
On Friday, August 16th, check out a talented band from Charleston, WV, The Company Stores at the Sweet Shoppe, at 9pm. They are a modern blues/folk band that smoothly blends elements of many genres of southern music. If you’de like to hear their sound now, you can find the song “Bottom Out” from a live show at Boulevard Tavern online at: vimeo.com/69390514
The Company Stores pulls inspiration from styles such as Delta blues, Appalachian folk, and slave spirituals. They then modernize these distinct styles with rock and hip hop based rhythms. With all the elements combined, they view themselves more as a melting pot of possibilities. Drummer John Query says, “We like to blend the old with the new, just like every musician in history, whether they know it or not.”
We got a chance to finally hear you all play Sunday at Festivall and you all sound amazing! – Diantha Ray, via facebook.
While the band lays down bluesy grooves between dynamic builds, vocalist Casey Litz carries a sultry and soulful voice captivating any audience. Because the Company Stores’ music crosses multiple genres, they’ve been able to build a broad fan base.
You all are so talented and amazing. I could listen all day to you. – Kathy Lewis, via facebook.
Be sure to check out some good live blues and sultry vocals on the 16th and tell ‘em LBSPY sent you! On a side note, this group is currently recording their first album, with a tentative release date to be announced sometime this 2013 year.
