The Second Annual Bootlegger’s Ball is scheduled to be held Saturday, February 23 at Carnegie Hall, 8pm till Midnight. Bootlegger’s Ball II will build on the prohibition theme from last year by adding a vaudeville and burlesque component to the speakeasy.
This year’s event is packed with more entertainment acts to include music, dancers, comedy acts, a magic performance, acrobatics, juggling, minstrels and other “diversions.” In addition to the entertainment, there will be complimentary food and open bar. Tickets are $60 in advance or $70 at the door.
“Bootlegger’s Ball II brings the thrills and excitement of a prohibition era speakeasy to life with a seductive new twist of vaudeville and burlesque,” – Jim Shock, Carnegie Hall Marketing Director.
The Bootlegger’s Ball is a fundraiser to benefit Carnegie Hall and takes the place of Monte Carlo night. In addition to food and entertainment, participants are encouraged to dress in period costumes to complete the festive speakeasy atmosphere. Speakeasies were places that illegally sold alcohol during the prohibition era of the 1920’s. Common clothing included bonnets and feathered headbands, beaded flapper style dresses and suits for men. You can find dresses and accessories at Cecilia’s, 108 E. Washington Street. Downtown Lewisburg. 304-645-3633.
“Find cool accessories for your ‘Flapper’ look- including beads, elbow gloves, and bustiers… at Cecilia’s!” – Sue Ciciora, Cecilia’s owner.
Purchase your tickets through the Carnegie Hall box office by calling 304-645-7917 or visit online at www.carnegiehallwv.com.
