Katie Deal returns to Greenbrier Valley Theatre

Katie Deal

Starring in Wildflowers: The Women of Country Music

After starring in last year’s production of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline at GVT, where she wowed audiences as Patsy herself, Katie Deal returns to GVT on June 12 at 7 p.m. for our next performance in our Al Jeter Concert Series.

Katie returns with the Kurt Johnson in an original tribute celebrating the legendary women of country music. Featuring hits by Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Pam Tillis, Reba McEntire, Crystal Gayle, and many more, this unforgettable evening is full of powerhouse vocals, classic songs, and heartfelt country charm.

“For this intimate concert, part of GVT’s Al Jeter Music Series, my good friend Kurt Johnston will join me for a duo version of my concert Wildflowers: The Women of Country Music,” says Katie Deal. “Kurt toured with Bon Jovi for nearly a decade as their pedal steel guitarist and was featured on their Grammy-winning country album, Lost Highway.”

The show is a tribute to the legends of country music, but is not meant be an impersonation of these country greats. “I’m a little bit of a music history nerd, especially when it comes to the women of country music” says Katie. This has been a passion project of mine for more than a decade. I call what I do “true tributes” because my goal is not to impersonate but to pay homage to the artists and songwriters featured in the concert.”

After a very successful run last year portraying Patsy Cline, a live concert performance will be a different and fun experience for Deal. “I love the freedom to perform the songs that speak to me most and tell the stories I find interesting,” says Katie. “When my professional musician friends join me on a wild ride, trying something new or truly locking into a classic style and we nail it, it’s euphoric. I know the audience feels it when we’re having fun, and that gives them permission to have fun too.”
