Good Times are Rolling into Union – Happy Farmer’s Day!

The editor’s great-grandfather, Cecil Saunders, and his beloved dog were proud participants in the Farmer’s Day parade, circa 1955.

For 70 years, the town of Union has honored its agricultural roots and the vital connection between communities and their local farmers with their annual Farmer’s Day Celebration. It all begins on June 6 and 7 with the 2025 theme, “Let the Good Times Roll.” With everything planned, there’s no doubt the good times will be rolling all weekend long.

The festivities kick off on Friday night at 8 PM in Jewell’s IGA Parking Lot with a free street dance and live music by Crawford & Power. The fun continues early Saturday morning at 7:55 AM with the Farmer’s Day 5K, 10K, and 1-Mile Fun Walk that supports the Fred Walker Memorial Fund.

For those who prefer to ease into the day, there’s plenty to eat and do. Local restaurants and vendors will line Main Street and surrounding areas with many offerings sure to satisfy even the pickiest palates. The Farmer’s Day Parade starts at 11 AM on Main Street. After taking in this beloved tradition, you’ll want to stick around for a full day of fun, including a horse show, live music, and plenty of time to catch up with friends and neighbors.
