The town of Alderson, Alderson Main Street, and Sunset Berry Farm collaborate each spring to celebrate the sweetest strawberry patch in the state. Our award-winning berries have received the coveted “sweetest berry” award multiple times.
The BIG day, the Alderson Strawberry Festival, is always the Saturday before Memorial Day, falling this year on May 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with food, vendors, music, and fun, both in town on the historic Memorial Bridge and at Sunset Berry Farm.
After you visit the Alderson Memorial Bridge, venture a short four miles up to the strawberry farm to enjoy live entertainment by Lee Dean, Cincinnati Circus Entertainment, food trucks, local vendors, face painting, “pick your own” strawberries & the kids’ fun zone! Let the kids enjoy playtime on the state’s largest bounce pad, ride the tractor-pulled bucking cow train, visit Hank the Tank, participate in a scavenger hunt in the enchanted forest, play axe throwing, ski-ball, and more.
U-Pick Strawberries (At The Farm): Alderson, West Virginia, is known for having the sweetest strawberry patch in the state! Two acres of deliciousness can be found at Sunset Berry Farm, just four miles from town atop beautiful Flat Mountain.
10 AM: Field Walk & Variety Tastings With Farmer Kent (at the farm) Did you know there are thousands of strawberry varieties, and not all are created equally? Join Farmer Kent for a field walk and sample the patch to discover your favorite variety.
2 PM: Cincinnati Circus Magic Show (at the farm) 3 PM: Bucking Cow Barrel Train Ride (at the farm) The tractor-pulled bucking cow barrel train ride is a big hit among kids of all ages. If you fit inside, you can take a ride! Children can ride double in the same cow, and parents are welcome to ride with their little ones.
4 PM: Cincinnati Circus Magic Show (at the farm) 10 AM – 6 PM: Meet Hank the Tank, a delightful 75-pound sulcata tortoise, and his friends! (at the farm) 10 AM – 4 PM: Entertainment by Lee Dean- Elvis, Sinatra & Johnny Cash (at the Farm) 10 AM- 6PM: Kids Fun Zone with huge bounce pad, axe throwing, basketball shooting, skee-ball, enchanted forest scavenger hunt (with fun pass bracelet)

Directions: Please don’t use GPS! Coming from East on 64: take left off exit 161 to Alderson. Coming from West on 64: take right off exit 161. Go 12 miles to Alderson, go through the stop sign and take next left onto Route 3 to cross bridge. left at end of bridge. Go through town and follow route 3 (must turn right at end of town). Take next left onto Flat Mountain Road. Go 2 miles and take first left (Laurel Creek Road). Go 1 mile and take first right (Sunset School Road-gravel). Farm is 9/10 mile on left. You can also follow signs once you arrive in Alderson.
