With a flea market, butterfly releases, and plenty of sunflowers, there is something for everyone in Alderson

The West Virginia Sunflower Festival takes place the first two weekends in September, Saturday, Sept. 2, and Sunday, Sept. 3, and then Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 10. The Sunflower Festival features a 2+ acre field of breathtaking sunflowers in Alderson, a pageant, and events in downtown Alderson.

The sunflower field is open daily by appointment the entire 3+ weeks while they are blooming, for photography opportunities, however the actual FESTIVAL is the first two weekends in Sept (2, 3, 9, & 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The festival is hosted by Sunset Berry Farm, home of the Alderson Strawberry Festival and the sweetest strawberry patch in the state!

Also taking place during the sunflower festival is a flea market, craft vendors, music, entertainment for all ages includes singer & entertainer Lee Dean/Swinging with Sinatra, Elvis & Johnny Cash (Saturday’s only), the state’s largest outdoor bounce pad, enchanted forest fairy garden with a scavenger hunt, tractor pulled bucking cow ride, an old fashion tree swing, food & more.

Bring your camera for amazing photo opportunities, or hire one of our affordable photographers upon arrival to the festival.

The big event is the butterfly release on both Saturdays at 2 p.m. We recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time as we will have limited supply of butterflies.
