The Greenbrier Valley's #1 Source for Food, Music, Shopping, Theatre, and Events!

Art in the Valley: Visitor’s Center Supports the Arts + Diana Hunt is July’s Featured Artist

If you’re traveling through the Greenbrier Valley and in need of more information about the area, a stop at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center (GVVC) should be at the top of your itinerary. The friendly staff is fully prepared to answer questions and provide a plethora of maps and brochures.

The GVVC also supports local artisans through the Art in the Valley exhibit. Each month, two artists are featured in the main gallery and alcove. Paintings, woodworking, pottery, and quilts are just a few of the styles that have been on exhibit. Artists open their show the first Friday of each month during Lewisburg’s First Fridays After Five and are usually present to meet and greet attendees.

Located in historic downtown Lewisburg, the GVVC is also a hub for many of the festivals in the area including: Lewisburg Chocolate Festival, Lewisburg Literary Festival, Taste of Our Towns, and West Virginia Winter Music Festival. This is a great place to take a break after exploring the area. The center offers free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, and retail offerings.

GVVC is open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm (6pm May-October) and Sunday 12pm-5pm. They are closed Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day and Easter Sunday. It is located on 905 Washington Street W. For more information, call them at 304-645-1000

Diana Feather Hunt is the featured “Artist In the Valley” at the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau in downtown Lewisburg for the month of July.

You are invited to attend Diana’s open reception held First Friday July 5th 5-8pm at the Visitor’s Center.  There will be refreshments and door prizes.  This will exhibit will feature wheel thrown and hand built functional stoneware. It includes a series of lamps and big bowls with lots of mugs and vessels (some with a West Virginia theme) and affordable handmade art.

Please share the First Friday opening or browse the show whenever you are in town. The exhibit will be on display and for sale during the entire month.

Diana’s pottery often includes plants and pots designed especially for them. This piece (pictured above) is called “Elevate Your Houseplants”.

She has shown and sold her work at PLANTS ETCETERA for decades. It is just one of many small local businesses supporting local art.

Diana has been part of the local Lewisburg arts scene for almost 4 decades. She first walked into a pottery studio at Concord College while pursuing an Elementary Education degree. Reflecting on that day, Diana says she never really left the studio since.

She has taught adult, student and children’s pottery classes through the local college, Carnegie Hall and her private studios. With Carnegie Hall she helped develop and execute the Clay in the Classroom project for local public schools. She owned and operated the CLAYWORKS business in downtown Lewisburg.
