Hello, my friends. Welcome to Groovy Highway with the Random Prophet. Allow me to start off by introducing myself. I am an artist and musician, not a politician or magician. . . . which means very simply; there will be no lies or double-talk and no tricks up my sleeve. What you see is what you get. What you get, is up to you. This is my first article of which I hope to be a long series in this column.

My column will consist of random thoughts, quotes and stories. At times, I will be a man in the street and report happenings and adventures about town. I would definitely love your feedback for future articles in this column. My email is included at the bottom of the column. Feel free to email me at anytime. My email is open 24/7, so it really doesn’t matter. It’s not like somebody has to be there. There will be prizes for trivia questions, as well.

I will be frequenting local businesses and if the experience is groovy, I will mention you in my column. If the experience is not so groovy, there will be no mention of it. That wouldn’t be groovy.

One of my favorite places in town is Alpha Music. I frequent their establishment quite often. It’s like the musical hub of the area. Other than this rag, it is probably the best way to find out what’s going on about town in the music world. The guys are great there. Rusty, Charlie, and Dan. They are luthiers, as well. A luthier is someone that repairs or builds guitars. I get my guitars serviced and fixed there, exclusively. They know what they are doin’ and I trust ‘em. I have always had a good experience and I always feel at home when I drop by… . . enough that I bought four guitars there . .. Ahh, but who’s counting, right?

I was born and raised in the Washington DC area. When I first walked in to Alpha Music and saw all of the vintage guitars for sale there, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I’d never seen anything like it in my life. Here they were, all kinds of vintage guitars and I could play any one of them that I wanted. Any guitars like that in a store in the city would be under lock and key and you would have to present ID and maybe promise your first born child in order to play one of them. . . . just to ensure that you don’t damage it . . or steal it. Ha ha. Thanks, Guys.
