Lewisburg has launched into summer, which means all over town the restaurants and bars are breaking out the patio furniture. With lush greenery in the patio, Stella’s al fresco dining makes it easy to forget that you’re in the middle of the valley. The patio is lined with flowering plants and shrubs, and covered by shade-casting umbrellas. It’s a perfect place for eating a fire-grilled filet under the stars or enjoying a game of corn hole with a cold drink and some fresh air. Outside seats mostly parties of two and four so it’s ideal for a special date or for catching up with an old friend. Located in the heart of downtown, the patio looks out onto the constantly buzzing Washington Street. It’s ideal for people who want to have a nice meal or beverage while watching the always entertaining scenery.
Snag one of the tables for lunch, dinner, or Sunday brunch and enjoy Chef Michele’s menu of small plates, sandwiches or entrees with a glass of wine!
If you are in a hurry during lunch, check out their Grab N’ Go window. You can call ahead or order at the window and your lunch will be ready in a few minutes. Every Wednesday, weather permitting, don’t miss Pickin’ on the Porch, which features a variety of music and musicians, Cornhole Tournaments starting at 7pm, and there’s $2 domestic beers all day long!
“Love it!! My new favorite restaurant. Tried different items each time, all the food is delicious. The wait staff is friendly and very accommodating, making your time their fun and memorable! Can’t wait to go back.” – Judy M.
Stella’s is in a historic building and garden setting. The original structures that comprise the downstairs and upstairs dining areas were built circa 1790 and represent some of Greenbrier County’s oldest occupied buildings. The front dining space, along Washington Street, was one of the first homesteads in Lewisburg. The back dining area has a large fireplace and was actually the kitchen, separate from the main living quarters, as was commonly done in the late 1700s.

Where the foyer is now was once known as the ‘Dog Run,’ a small space of grass dividing the two buildings. Years later, the two buildings were combined into one. All of the wood beams, flooring, and log wall members are original to the home and has been maintained to showcase construction techniques used during that time.
One don’t-miss from Stella’s inventive cocktail menu is the Afternoon Delight. It has Pimm’s Liquor with fresh muddled strawberry, cucumber, and sweet basil, and finished with sprite and ginger ale. Or if you’re in the mood for wine, nothing suits the place and season better than a cold glass of Chardonnay. For a snack, try the mussels which are steamed with white wine, celery, carrots, onions, and fresh ground pepper, served with a grilled garlic baguette.
Summer is the season for al fresco dining and specialty cocktails. Make sure you shed the long sleeves and soak up some Vitamin D while enjoying excellent eats and drinks. This restaurant is an great choice when the weather is warmest and the sun burns brightly.
