LEARN CLAY HAND BUILDING WITH SEAN O’CONNELL AT CARNEGIE HALL THIS SPRING

As part of its commitment to lifelong learning, Carnegie Hall offers a series of classes and workshops to enlighten and inspire learners of all ages. This Spring, starting on Thursday, March 28, Carnegie is offering a six-week course of Hand Building with teaching artist Sean O’Connell.

The workshop explores a variety of form and design concepts combining several techniques in working clay by hand. Students will shape a lidded tripod ginger jar from soft clay slabs, mold a full in-the-round sculptural figure, or sculpt a bas relief wall piece or garden muse. Students can create objects of beauty, function, integrity, and spirit. Work will be fired by Carnegie Hall and available for pick up later. Class size is limited. All levels welcome.

There will be two sessions for which students may choose. Session 1 will be Thursdays, March 28, April 4, 11, 18, 25, May 9 (no class May 2), from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Session 2 will be Thursdays, May 16, 23, 30, June 6, 13, 27 (no class June 20), from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Cost for the six-week course is $225 for members and $250 for nonmembers. Limited scholarships are available for students 50 years of age and over, who pay only $165.
