No Small Task: From The Fort to The Shop

David Walton always wanted to open a service and repair shop. All his life, he’s enjoyed working on engines or just fixing things in general. Most recently, David opened The Shop, an automotive repair shop in Ronceverte. You may know David from the Fort Savanah where from 2003-2009, he happily served us drinks from behind the bar at this late-night Lewisburg hot spot.

Located in the former Scotty’s Tire and Muffler on Rt. 219 (on the hill) 220 Frankfort Ave, David says he found this location through the suggestion of a friend. “A friend had pointed out to me that this building was empty and for rent, I went ahead and made a few calls and went for it. It’s an excellent location with lots of traffic. I look forward to helping people with their vehicles and being a benefit to the community.”

“Timely. Reliable. Knowledgeable.” – Derek Teaney, via fb review. June 27, 2019.

Sharing his automotive background, David says, “Growing up I would tear anything and everything apart to see how it worked. At 12 or 13 years old, my uncle gave me a job in his automotive shop. I started out at $2/hour cleaning and separating old nuts and bolts while watching and learning from my uncle. It all grew from there. At 18, I was working in an airport hanger cleaning, refueling, and helping the A&P mechanics. I have worked here in a local shop for a few years, as well as shops all over. I regularly work on cars, trucks, airplanes. I’ve received SAE certificates and I even have my pilot’s license with commercial, instrument, and mute-engine ratings.

“To put it bluntly, this guy’s the man. 10/10” – Carson Capaldo. via fb review May 9, 2019.

Explaining The Shop’s services, David tells us, “We offer full service and repair on: A/C, brake, exhaust, and coolant systems as well as, tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation, pre-purchase inspections, head gasket, timing belts, engine rebuilds, we are able to do most any automotive repair, and our services are growing.

Check out David at The Shop for your next automotive need(s). Their hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30a – 5:30p and Saturday and Sunday by appointment only. For more information, call David at 304.645.SHOP(7467)
