June 7-9: Lewisburg’s Home Tour Weekend!

From first Friday, June 7 until the 9th, you are invited to join the Greenbrier Historical Society in partnership with local garden clubs in presenting “Home Tour Weekend,” a three-day weekend event in Lewisburg, WV.

Friday kicks off the tour with a Garden Party at Historic Mirapaso, 6p-8pm. Enjoy an evening of locally sources appetizers, Greenbrier Valley Brewing Co brews, wine, and guitarist, Alan Copenhaver. Located at 2134 Washington St E. this home offers tons of character and fabulous views of the valley.

On Saturday, spend the day in Lewisburg exploring 6 historic homes, 10am-4pm. You will learn their history and enjoy their unique character. Bonus: You may start your day at any house! While touring the homes, stop into local restaurants and shops including the Wild Bean, Thunderbird Taco, Stardust Cafe, Humble Tomato and for shopping: Unique Boutique, Patina, Wolf Creek Gallery, Yarid’s, Sunflower Soul, Brick House Antiques, High Country Boutique, and so many more!

Sunday wraps up the event with Sunday in the Cemetary, 1:30p or 2:15pm.  You will visit with four cemetery townsfolk as they come to life in the Dick Pointer and Old Stone Cemeteries. The townsfolk include David Creigh: “A Shooting and a Hanging,” Mary Elizabeth North Hamner: “Sudden Curious Death,” Jennette Creigh Preson: “Fire Skirt,” and John Bowyer: “Church Sexton, Slave, and Great Humanitarian.” This series of dramas is written and directed by Pamela Barry. Cemetary preservationist, Morgan Bunn, will also be on hand to discuss why Cemetery Preservation is important followed by a Demonstration of Restoration Techniques and The Greenbrier’s Bread pudding
