Saturday, Oct 7: Fall Harvest Show @ Masonic!

In its 26th season, The Virginia Opry will perform its “Fall Harvest Show” on stage at the Historic Masonic Theatre on October 7, 2017, at 8:00 p.m.

John Waugh, The Virginia Opry’s former drummer and vocalist during the mid-1990s, will perform as drummer and vocalist along with his daughter, Johnna Waugh, a vocalist who will make her debut on The Virginia Opry.

The Virginia Opry will perform under the direction of William R. Nicely, a vocalist who also performs with The Announcers.  His wife, Holly, teams with him as a vocalist.

Melvin Snead and Laura, his wife, are also vocalists for The Virginia Opry.  Both delve into some comedy routines during The Virginia Opry that Appalfolks of America founded.

Kim Cahoon, the only original member of The Virginia Opry that made its debut in October of 1992, will perform as vocalist, and she along with Holly and Laura will serve as backup singers for Johnna along with Johnna’s father and William.

Charlotte Ivy, the “Token Texan” in The Virginia Opry, has recorded at the Gene Breeden Recording Studio in Nashville, and she has written and recorded a CD entitled “Feels Like Home To Me.”  She performs as a vocalist and plays rhythm guitar in The Virginia Opry’s band.

Billy Berberette, the band’s bass guitarist and vocalist, will perform alongside his son, Jeremy, who will make his debut in The Virginia Opry as the lead guitarist.

Denny Fitzgerald, a multi-instrument musician who most often is seen playing the banjo, rounds out The Virginia Opry’s band.  He too provides vocals.

The Virginia Opry has hosted such guests as the late Dan Seals, The Lonesome River Band, The Farm Hands and Keith Bryant.  The Virginia General Assembly passed “Resolution 397” in February that was crafted by the Virginia House of Delegates to honor The Virginia Opry for completing 25 years of country music shows in the Alleghany Highlands.

Tickets are priced from $12 to $25 when purchased in advance, depending upon where the seats are located in Virginia’s oldest theatre that seats 550.  Tickets purchased the day of the show are $2 more.  Group rates are available for advance purchases of eight or more. Tickets may be purchased online at historicmasonictheatre.com or by calling (540) 862-5655.
