Saturday, Sept 23: Fly Fishing Film Tour!

Get excited for the 11th annual Fly Fishing Film Tour, slated for Saturday, September 23rd from 4pm-10pm at the Lewis Theatre in downtown Lewisburg. This is a globally celebrated event and one-of-a-kind experience that you won’t want to miss! Each year fishy folk of all ages, from all over the world, gather at these premieres to soak up international films, spin a few yarns amongst friends, and dream about casts still unmade.

In addition to the Lewisburg, this film tour will be showcased at 150 big screens across the U.S. and celebrated in Canada, Belize, the U.K. and South Africa. Viewers are in for a very big treat this year as the 2017 lineup of movies is the film tour’s finest yet. From Siberia to Idaho, Mexico, Florida, Kamchatka, Alaska, Montana, etc., the notable characters, unique storylines and unparalleled fishing will lead you on an adventure around the globe!

The film tour was brought to Lewisburg because it has the “right mix” of location, atmosphere, and available venues, say event organizers, Bronson Brown and Steven Pugh. 8 fly-fishing films will be showcased on the Lewis’ cinema screen including: The Middle of Nowhere, At the End of a Rainbow, Yakutia, Old Friends New Fish, Corazon, Convergence, Running the Coast, and Odd Man Out. Aside from the films, there will be raffles to win a guided float trip Greenbrier Sporting Club, fly fishing gear, fly tying supplies, flies, fishing excursions, and more! Participants will also enjoy the silent auction, PHW flies for sale, food, and adult beverages. Afterwards, don’t miss the after-party at the Asylum on Lafayette Street.

All proceeds from this event benefit Southern West Virginia Chapter Trout Unlimited, SWVCTU, which is an organization that conserves and protects native and wild trout across 10 counties in southern West Virginia. Currently, there are 100 members in this chapter. If you are interested in joining SWVCTU, please visit tu.org/intro and select “186 Southern West Virginia.”

Fish in the morning at one of the countless trout streams or warm-water streams in or around the beautiful Greenbrier Valley and then head to the film tour to enjoy great food, camaraderie, movies from around the globe, food, and so much more! Ticket prices are just $12.00 at door and online. Doors open at 4pm and the show starts at 6pm. The Lewis Theatre is located at 865 N. Court Street.
