For the past several years, a local art group, the Greenbrier Artists, has cooperated with the Lewisburg Literary Festival to celebrate reading and art by holding an art exhibit based on the written word. The exhibit is held at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors’ Center on East Washington Street in Lewisburg.
Greenbrier Artists is a non-profit group dedicated to the education and promotion of art. They currently have a membership of more than ninety area artists who work in watercolors, pastels, oils, acrylics, fabric, and mixed media. They meet each week at Carnegie Hall to paint, share ideas and demos.
This year’s exhibit, “Paintings from Poems!” will open First Friday, August 5th with a reception held from 5pm till 8pm. The artists will show works that have been inspired by poems written by the artists or by their family members.
Come meet the artists and enjoy refreshments on that evening. The exhibit will continue through the month of August. All are welcome!
