On Friday, June 17th, Vern’s Pot O’ Chili (VPOC) will perform a long awaited reunion concert on the stage at Hill & Holler Pizza. VPOC is a mostly original music 9 piece band with styles in funk, reggae, rock and jam. Their songs are about life, love, and growing up in the 2000’s. Their upcoming show is a reunion of not just us band members but many of our friends and fans and they plan to pull out all the stops and play some heavy hitting grooves to get you dancing. That’s always been their main goal.
“What’s better than two for one at the Golden Corral? A Bell Biv Devoe Reunion show, right? Well if you can’t get those then maybe you should settle for a Vern’s Pot O’ Chili Reunion show. – D.J. Blaw Knox will be opening it up. – $10.00 cover” – VPOC
Comparing VPOC to one particular band is difficult because they all have so many different influences that span across a wide spectrum of musicians. Their instruments include the drums, guitar, base, vocals, harmonica, trumpets, saxophone, ukulele, and French horn.
They started as a trio in 2001, the band now has 9 members including: Ian Lutz on drums and vocals; Neil Jones on vocals and rhythm guitar; Dan Freeman on vocals and lead guitar (Bass from 2005 to 2009, lead guitar 2009 to Present); Jason Johans on harmonica, ukulele and vocals; Charles W Hatcher on bass and vocals; Birch Graves on saxophone and flute; Brian Carr on trombone and keys; Patrick Driscoll on French Horn; and Jimmy Alder on trumpet. Neil Jones has been the main songwriter of the group followed by Dan Freeman. A few other songs were written by Ian Lutz and Jason Johans mostly in the earlier years.

DJ Blaw Knox will be opening up at about 8pm. This concert will follow the Country Road’s Crossfit Olympic Day Opening Speeches by Bimbo Coles and Mayor John Manchester, which start at 6pm.
Now that you know more about the ingredients that make up VPOC, we think you should check them out live! Hill & Holler is located at 204 N. Jefferson Street in Montwell Park. There will be $10.00 cover. The following day VPOC will be playing a festival at The 35th Star, WV’s 153rd Reunion Show in Fayetteville.
