Thur, May 21: Tap Takeover w/ The Boatmen

boatmen irish pub

On Thursday, May 21st, don’t miss the Great Tap Takeover at the Irish Pub with The Boatmen and Flying Dog Brewery, who will feature 4 beers. This event is free and music starts at 8pm. There will be Flying Dog drink specials throughout the night!

The Boatmen are a harmony driven, Americana “Soulgrass” band out of the Beckley area. They love Greenbrier County and haven’t, as a whole band, played in Lewisburg for over 2 years. Formerly known as Old School Abbey and still holding a strong following from that name, they are hoping to draw in some of old friends and family to this show. Having taken a break for a while under the current group, they are getting back into the swing of playing together and are still based on the fun side of music. Bandmember, Matt Mullins tells us, “We don’t take ourselves seriously. We just want people to see how much we love it and in turn enjoy it themselves.”

Joining us from Maryland, Flying Dog Brewery will take over the taps at the pub with Raging Bitch, a Belgian IPA (Flying Dog’s flagship). Raging Bitch is described in “two inflammatory words… one wild drink. It’s nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Release it.” – Ralph Steadman.

Also on tap is Doggystyle, a pale Ale; Supertramp, a Tart Cherry Ale; and Bloodline, which is a blood orange IPA and described as this: “Originally a small-batch release in the spring of 2013, Bloodline is brewed with blood orange peel and blood orange juice and hits the perfect balance between citrus sweetness and bitterness.”-

Always on tap at the pub is Flying Dog’s Pearl Necklace, an oyster stout. Since the brewing facility is based out of Frederick Maryland, they brew this special stout with with Rappahannock River oysters. All proceeds from this brew always benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership, which coordinates and conducts oyster restoration in the Chesapeake Bay.

Good people drink good beer and appreciate good music so don’t miss this show! The Irish Pub is located at 109 E. Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg. For more info, visit
