Fri. Aug 29: Switch at Irish Pub

switch

Coming to Greenbrier County from Beckley, WV. Switch is performing at the Irish Pub on Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg on Friday, August 29th. Together for 3 years, they play a variety of music from rock to punk to southern rock and country. They deliver everything from Haggard to Zeppelin. Get to know them better with our Q&A.

What does each member bring to the band?
Each member of our group brings their own style and unique touch to every song we play. We call ourselves ‘’ SWITCH ‘’ because each member of the band can play different instruments and we also swap off on the lead vocal duties. Howard Buie handles most of the lead vocals because his range and the tone of his voice is amazing! Because of his vocal abilities , we are able to cover such bands as Journey , Bon Jovi , Brian Adams, and a lot of songs that have a difficult and high vocal track. Steve Sparks plays drums and handles all of the percussion . Steve has played with the legendary Evert Lilly , and is also featured on the West Virginia Super Pickers album that was headed up by Charlie McCoy. I play lead guitar , harmonica , bass guitar , and also sing lead and backing vocals.

What cover songs do you play? (60’s, 70’s, top 40, southern rock, country)
We play a variety of cover songs . We always take requests , so you may hear radio friendly rock such as Tom Petty one minute and then some jazz –rock such as Sanford Townsend Band the next. We try to play something that everybody knows , but they haven’t heard for a while . – We get a lot of compliments on our song selection.

Do you have original music?
We have a few original songs that we also play . ‘’ Will You Follow ‘’ is written by Howard Buie and has a Gin Blossoms / Goo Goo Dolls type of feel to it = great song ! ‘’ Big Tits’’ is a song that I wrote and describes my favorite part of the female anatomy . – It’s the only love song I ever wrote!

What are you looking forward to most about performing at the Irish Pub?
We are very excited to be playing again at The Irish Pub . Patrick is great to work for and we always get good response from the crowd. The food there is phenomenal. Their service is top notch. They treat people courteously and they treat us great too. The last time we played there we had a great response from the audience. Our band ended up getting booked at two other venues by meeting people there that recommended us to other business owners.

What other upcoming shows do you have scheduled in the area?
We will be back in the Lewisburg area at The Sweet Shoppe on September 19th, and again on November 7th. We will also be at The Lewisburg Elks Lodge on Wednesday , December 31st for the New Year’s Eve party.

Our other upcoming scheduled events include :
August 1st at The Cherry Rival Festival in Richwood WV
August 2nd at The Dish Café in Daniels WV
August 9th at The Skyline Resort in Ghent WV
