Eclectic Ensemble Option 22 Returns to Lewisburg

Lewisburg, WV – The eclectic music group Option 22 will re-visit downtown Lewisburg Friday, March 7th with an evening show at The Sweet Shoppe on Washington Street. The group has a history and strong connection with the creative community of Lewisburg.

Their original sound spans genres from new grass to funk, rock, new age, Americana and points in between. The four piece combination of musicians are gifted with the ability to flow in improvisational creation of music, and each song on the album was written through that process. Dubbed by one listener a “new age jam band” and another “hippie hop,” the group brings a flavor all its own.

Their most recent album “The Change” was recorded at Audible Art Studios in The Room Upstairs, part of The RiffRaff Arts Collective in downtown Princeton, WV. The studio, Option 22 and other elements of the cooperative like Stages Music School are part of an ongoing creative revitalization effort on Mercer Street, a once depressed area that has been plagued by abandoned store fronts. The group has been hosting open stage nights, performing, recording, hosting arts parades and special events in the neighborhood since 2006, and momentum has begun to build for the Princeton Renaissance Project. The group is also responsible for Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival, now in its 11th year, a weekend long, multicultural immersion in the creative arts held in September in Pipestem, WV. The music festival is the pinnacle of the creative year for Option 22.

The group consists of Lori McKinney (vocals/drums), Robert Blankenship (didgeridoo, guitar, keys), Brandon Dunn (bass, guitar, keys) and Jordan Furrow (drums, guitar). For more information, visit www.option22.net or call the venue: (304) 645-3214.
