After witnessing a holiday meltdown of meanness at Kmart when a register crashed, then fighting maddening traffic and crowds in a quest to find the perfect present to not destroy a little boy’s Christmas, and having repeated requests for suggestions go unanswered, I made my way to the ultimate holiday hell-spot, Wal-Mart. That’s where I saw a gentleman with special needs hand a folded dollar bill to the Salvation Army bell ringer in honor of someone he loved. It was the first time today I’ve experienced true Christmas Spirit and precisely why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. No weariness or worries of tantrums or tears brought on by unfulfilled wants and wishes. A time when being with special people is the perfect gift everyone enjoys together. Merry Humbug.
