Friday, Dec. 20: Possum Holler Glee Club!

possum holler glee club at pub

On Friday, December 20th, check out a jumpin, feel good band at the Irish Pub in downtown Lewisburg with Possum Holler Glee Club! with special guest, Josh Gesner on Cajon (a percussion instrument). They describe their sound as having foundations in old time blues and folk of yesteryear with an occasion to break out something modern with a twist.

Bandmembers include: Dan Freeman on vocals and guitar, Jay Hayes on vocals and washboard, Jason Johans on vocals and harmonica, Brian Carr on trombone, and Charlie Hatcher on Bass guitar. When you see them live this December, expect to hear blazing trombone solos by Carr and strong harmonica by Johans. Lead singer, Jay Hayes, offers a comical presence to the stage.

The band formed about 7 years, under several different names, with Hayes and Freeman always at the core of the group. The current members solidified the group during February 2013’s TNT Music Festival here in Lewisburg. The band’s shows are usually in and around the Lewisburg, Beckley, and Fayetteville area.

You can usually find Possum Holler Glee Club at the Livery Tavern every other Thursday. These shows are a stripped down 3 piece from 7-9pm.

Other upcoming shows at the Pub include Irish musician, Brendan Sheridan performing almost nightly until December 21st. DJ Blaw Knox will be “spinning massive sounds from the underground” on Saturday, December 21 at 9pm. The Hitzig Brothers on December 27th at 9pm. New Year’s Celebration on Tuesday, December, 31 with The Jarmovers. There will be drink specials and a $500 cash prize at midnight. January entertainment will include Lawless Brown, Scruffy Murphy, The Annual Food Locker Benefit featuring several musicians from the area, and Patrick O’Flaherty performing 6 days/week.
