My Dog & I: Meet n’ Greet by Janine Lazarus

LOVE this weather!! Even if Banksie has to wear his sweatshirt at night…. We are bouncing around full of energy & optimism…OK so there are NO excuses for not being out on the Greenbrier Trail with us! What a great place to practice your dog-etiquette too….Especially important if you were wandering thru’ Town at the DARE to CRUZ Car Show!

Last week we took a Sharpei trainee back to his Condo in NYC. After being a “Country Boy” for a few weeks, the bustle of the City was a whole ‘nuther planet…He took a couple of days to adjust but with some new skills this was not as hard as you would think. He had learned how to approach and/or ignore other canines in a crowd and sit politely while scary doormen in hats talked loudly to his Mom.(Banksie thinks that everything in Manhattan is loud!).

Even tho’ our dogs don’t have to handle such extreme environments, it’s still a great idea to show them a way to handle a calm “meet’ngreet” and it could take a lot of stress out of family outings with your dog. (Excuse me, Banksie, “pack member”.)

MyDog&I Barbara

So we’ll see you all out walking with your buddies in this fabulous season and keep a look out for a new junior canine person in Town. We just brought a Poodle puppy from Ohio to his excited owners. Traveling in the car for seven hours with a very little dog was an experience I had forgotten about…many paper towels came into play! Banksie was very worried that this little guy might stay around and very relieved when we dropped him off! The puppy and his older sister, Emma will soon be sporting the latest dog fashions on the streets of Lewisburg for our amusement….Welcome Winston!

And good luck in the City, Wasabi!.Come and see us next Summer.
