Bring in the 4th of July this year at West Virginia’s biggest celebration, held in Alderson, West Virginia. Daily from the 4th through the 7th there will be Vendors and Fun Factory Inflatables and Rock Wall for children. Also, duck tickets will be on sale daily for the Rubber Duck Race, scheduled for Monday, July 8th.
Festivities begin early on the 3rd with a Bicycle Race at 9am. In the evening, sing and dance to karaoke on the scenic deck at Stuart’s Smokehouse, overlooking the Greenbrier River.
Thursday, July 4th starts with a Throttle Throbs Car Show from 9-3pm. There’s a Grand Parade at 10:30am. The “Presentation of the Colors” is held at 1pm. Stuart’s Annual Hot DAWG Eating Contest with $735 in CASH PRIZES is also at 1pm. Jeff Hicks One Man Band will be performing on the deck at Stuart’s at 2pm. Field events will be held at 2pm. The County Tug-o-War Contest kicks off at 4pm. Matt Jones is performing in concert at 7pm. Miss Fireworks is introduced and crowned at 10pm and the Grand Fireworks Display shoots off at 10:15pm.
Spend Friday outdoors with the “Don’t Get Hooked on Tobacco Kids Fishing Derby” at 8am and Fireman’s Rodeo at 7pm.
Saturday, the 6th kicks off in full gear with a “5k Run for Snacks” at 9am. There’s a Cornhole Tournament at 10am and check out the sweets at the 3rd Annual “All American” Baking Contest, held from 12-3pm. At 1pm, both the Snack Shuffle Fun Walk and an Ice Cream Social take place. The Community Center is holding an Open House at 3pm. There will be a Community Homecoming Banquet at 6:30pm. Evening entertainment starts at 7pm with local country music band, Nashville Departure. There will also be a Square Dance from 8pm-12am.
Get to the river Sunday afternoon to check out the White Water Canoe Race, held at 12pm. From 5-6:30pm there will be a Tribute to Coach A.A. McLaughlin and a Gospel Concert will follow at 7pm. Stay for the Fireworks as those start at 9:30pm.
Monday’s events start at 10am with the Health and Safety Fair, from 10-2pm. There will be entertainment at 4pm and the Great Rubber Duck Race starts at 6pm. More info, visit: lbspy.com/alderson-4th
