Interview with Dueling Fiddlers

What is rock violin?
Our aim is to throw out all the old classical mindsets. We are
looking to really connect with the audience. We can take people
favorite songs/ all genres, including pop rock, and play them on
the violin. Playing the violin in rock offers a new twist that helps
people see the world differently. Violin is the medium and we use
it as a modern instrument by performing modern music.

This sounds fun…
Yes, it’s very entertaining. We are now adding dance beats and
special effects. Synthesized sounds to the show. It gives us so many
more directions. We are now a cross between rock show and electronica
while performing on 2 violins.

We noticed last winter you and Adam DeGraff included a dj in
your performance at Casasanta. Is this a permanent addition
to the group?

Yes, we have 2 new additions. One is our dj, who is a regular
member on stage now. And the other is our producer, who runs
our sound and works with the dj in the studio, when we’re writing.

When does your World Tour Start?
Our tour kicks off August 24th at the WV Osteopathic
School in Lewisburg. After that, we’ll be performing a show in each
of the 50 states. Then we’re heading to South America and Europe.

Are tickets still available?
Yes, tickets are for sale on our website:
www.duelingfidders.com There’s about 80 tickets available.

You’re recording a new album?
Yes, we’re finishing our newest album now. Our new show is
based around this album which is Black Eyes Peas meets the violin
and Riverdance. On tour, we’ll be selling cds, along with t-shirts and
alien masks.

When you’re not on tour or recording music, what do you and
Adam do?

I have a new music school called, Heartstrings Academy. We are
located in downtown Lewisburg. We teach violin lessons for all ages.
facebook.com/HeartStringsAcademy. Adam DeGraff also
teaches violin lessons via skype and various workshops:

About bullriding. We heard you rode the mechanical bull last year
at the WV State Fair. Are you going to try it again this year?

Haha, Yes! I tried last year, going for the $200 prize for 8 seconds.
I stayed on the bull for 6.3 seconds. This year, I’m going for 8
so I can win the money. It might take a few tries, but it’s worth it.
