The bed and breakfast experience is unique and the best b&b’s are typically small and privately owned, like the Inn at Gristmill Square. At this particular b&b in Warm Springs, VA., owners, Kate and John Loeffler do everything they can to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. With years of experience in the hospitality industry, these two have brought their own special skills with them to fill you in on everything from wine selection at dinner, to finding the best nearby attractions.
“What a delight to spend the night at the Inn at Gristmill Square. Kate and John have made it cozy and friendly. Great Sunday brunch. And, a continental breakfast is delivered to your room: delicious. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Lots of small surprises,” – Donna R. Toney (owner at High Country Boutique, Lewisburg).
The Inn offers gourmet dining and spa services in a village setting. At dinner, you may choose your wine from the wine cellar and enjoy a freshly prepared meal, made from scratch. John may even approach your table and give you an update on the latest farm news about seasonal crops. The food is excellent, the rooms are modern yet rustic, and the atmosphere is welcoming and laid back.
All rooms and suites have a distinctive style at the Inn. Pictured is the Singapore room. This room is in, what was once, a the town’s hardware store. It’s located across from the Mill and >Waterwheel Restaurant.
Like many rooms here, this one has its own fireplace. Also, a private bath (customary to all rooms). If you require larger accommodations, the Inn offers houses. The Miller House is a beautifully furnished 4 bedroom farm house, and was once the home of the miller’s family.
For 200 years, there was a mill in continuous operation on Warm Springs Run, dating back to 1771. The present mill building (pictured) was erected in 1900 and operated as a gristmill until 1971, when the building was converted into the Waterwheel Restaurant.
For years, the Jefferson Pools in Warm Springs have refreshed and rejuvenated the fortunate few, including: Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd U.S. President (1801-’09)
Jefferson soaked in this crystal clear mineral spring water in 1818, when he was 75 years old.
There’s both a men’s and ladies pool house. These waters are still rich in minerals and remain at a constant 98 degrees. They are just minutes from the Inn.
