A Woman, A Story, & A Life In-Between – When I Eat Chocolate
I really have to watch myself around chocolate. When I eat chocolate, everything else around me fades away into a haze. I get lost in oblivion and the only thing that matters is the smooth, rich sweetness taking over my senses. Don’t bother talking to me – to my ears, you’ll just sound like the teacher from Peanuts. When the typical candy-related holidays roll around, I make sure I bring most of my leftover chocolate to work to share with my coworkers. If I don’t, there is a chance my sister could wake up in the middle of the night to the rustling of wrappers, only to find me crouched in a dark corner of the house like some rabid animal, wild-eyed and bushy-haired, shoveling fun size Snickers and Hershey’s Kisses into my face. Now that I think about it, though, I guess there are worse things that could happen (for me, anyway…I’m not sure how well Angie would recover from something like that). For instance, I read an article last year about a guy in Kentucky who was arrested after he was found smeared in chocolate and peanut butter in a grocery store, wearing only a pair of boots. Now that’s my kinda guy!
