July 20th: Greenbank Herb Fair

As part of the Calvin W. Price Enrichment Series celebrating life in Appalachia and the Sesquicentennial of West Virginia, Pocahontas County will be honoring the long-held tradition of using herbs for health and pleasure at the Green Bank Herb Fair on Saturday, July 20th on Wesley Chapel Road in Green Bank, WV (coordinates: Latitude: 38.419531 and Longitude: -79.831808).

The event will be filled with hands-on workshops, discussions, and an award-winning movie about the historical uses for herbs and how to grow your own herb garden filled with aroma, flavor and good health. There will also be a market filled with herbs and herbal products. The focus of the fair is growing, eating, saving, and using herbs for pleasure and health.

Participants will learn about harvesting herbs from Teresa Boardwine, RH (AHG), and Founder of Green Comfort School of Herbal Medicine. As the former co-founder and administrator of Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies, Teresa taught Nutrition and Laboratory Practicum for seven years. Teresa will share how to make effective syrups, cordials and tinctures. Teresa teaches and conducts clinical consultations at Green Comfort School of Herbal Medicine. Her passion for connecting people with plants is infectious as she teaches the science and art of Herbal Medicine. Infused with knowledge gained from California School of Herbal Studies, her work as an herbal educator at Smile Herb Shop and as co- founder/instructor at Dreamtime Center for Herbal Studies, she is an accomplished herbalist who’s teachings reflect real life experiences gained by 20 years of clinical practice.

Teresa is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild who has lectured for national conferences such as Medicines from the Earth Symposium, South East Women’s Herb Conference, North Carolina Herb Conference, UVA, Monticello Fall Harvest Festival, and National Natural Pharmacy Association. She has authored two books, Cordially Yours and Herbal Spa.
