The Greenbrier Valley's #1 Source for Food, Music, Shopping, Theatre, and Events!

Letter to the Editor

Hello Readers,

How is September here already?

Summer has passed by far too quickly, but my favorite time of the year is just around the corner! August was full of exciting events and entertainment, but September will not disappoint. Once again, I was privileged to learn more about talented locals and dive into the interesting upcoming events in our community. Fall is upon us and what better way to transition from Summer to Autumn than celebrating flowers that survive through the change with us, the beautiful sunflower. Our front-page story covers the WV Sunflower Festival happening this month at the Sunset Berry Farm in Alderson. You do not want to miss out on the mouth-watering food and extravagant fun!

If speaking about mouth-watering food sparks your appetite, grab some takeout from Pho King, a delicious Asian Market located in White Sulphur Springs. Also, if you are looking for wholesome fun this month stop by the Freshwater Folk Festival and enjoy live music, food, and much more.

In our Artist on Display section, you can learn all about a wonderful Greenbrier County artist, Sandra Schmocker and all her accomplishments and events. It was a pleasure to speak with Sandra and learn so much about her as an artist. If you are searching for someone to instruct a private Paint & Sip event, she is the perfect choice, with many years of experience hosting these events and beautiful painting outcomes.

I also had the opportunity to speak with Koley Bolen of Elements of Us. I learned very interesting facts about the band and their reason behind merging together as artists to create a spectacular trio. To learn more about Elements of us, check out the Unplugged column!

There is a diverse selection of things to read about in this month’s edition. With hunting season upon us, Patrick Calvert has some interesting facts and tips to offer about the sport and Sharon Ginsburg gives us an alternate perspective into books and reading in her story “More than Books at the Library”.

I encourage you to go outdoors this month and enjoy the festivities in our County, while the weather is still on our side! I hope you all have a pleasant and fun September!

Your Editor,

Chelsea Blair
