Lewisburg Paintball LLC brings new outdoor fun to the Greenbrier Valley

This month, I had the pleasure of interviewing one owner of Lewisburg Paintball LLC., Ben Hersman. I was able to view the game course, equipment, and get a good idea of the way things work. I learned the reason behind creating the course and how it can be helpful in getting people outdoors to enjoy themselves, as well as creating an entertaining atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the county. The course is in a wooded area located just behind Deal Smart on 219 North and offers different barricades to camouflage yourself from opponents, making the game more interesting.

Lewisburg Paintball LLC. held their grand opening on June 29, with food, target practice, and discount paintball battles. Currently games are by appointment only, but you can schedule parties Saturday and Sunday during anytime and in evenings throughout the week. Also, on the last weekend of every month, there will be an open game day where anyone can join in on games without an appointment. Games can include up to 10 players and thousands of paintballs, be prepared!

Since the new opening, they have been constantly working to add more entertainment for the entire community to enjoy. The goal is to get kids off the games and outdoors. “Paintball is like gaming, but you’re actually in the game.” Said Hersman. More property will soon be added, allowing for more room for other activities. Many plans are expected to come to life next summer.

The company’s top priority is safety then fun. According to Lewisburg Paintball LLC., paintball is less dangerous than many other contact sports, if using the appropriate equipment. Face masks are required to participate, and it is suggested that no under 12 years of age participate in paintball battles due to safety concerns with keeping masks in place throughout the entire game. Parents are required to sign a waiver for underage children. Wearing loose layers of clothing can reduce the pain of paintballs drastically but with that being said, during summer, it is best to schedule parties early in the morning or late in the evening when the temperature is cooler, to keep from being overheated due to many layers. When it comes to fun, the priority is to ensure everyone feels welcome, whether you are a first-time player or very familiar with the game. The owners strive to be on the same level as others, teach them well, and ensure everyone enjoys the experience. They also added that the sport is not for everyone, but everyone is welcome and encouraged to try. You never know, you may love it!
