POCAHONTAS COUNTY OPERA HOUSE ANNOUNCES SPRING 2026 PERFORMANCES

As the season shifts in the mountains, the Pocahontas County Opera House welcomes spring with a trio of performances that move from hard-driving tradition to genre-defying contemporary sound, all within one of West Virginia’s most intimate listening rooms.

On Saturday, April 11, The Bing Brothers featuring Jake Krack return to the Opera House with a sound rooted in old-time, bluegrass and Irish traditions. Known for their high-energy playing and deep connection to Appalachian music, the group brings a mix of reels, jigs and breakdowns shaped by decades of collaboration and performance.

The series continues Saturday, April 25, with Ben Sollee, an acclaimed cellist, composer and songwriter whose work blends folk, bluegrass, soul and global influences. His performances pair virtuosic cello playing with thoughtful songwriting, creating a sound that is both expansive and deeply personal.

Looking ahead to May, the Opera House presents the Dakota Karper Collective on Saturday, May 9, a rotating ensemble led by West Virginia fiddler Dakota Karper. Drawing on traditional Appalachian music while incorporating original material and fresh arrangements, the group creates a performance rooted in community, connection and the living tradition of mountain music.

All performances begin at 7 p.m.

With just 250 seats, the Opera House offers an experience that feels less like a formal concert and more like a shared gathering — a place where audiences can connect closely with the artists and the music.

Located in downtown Marlinton, the Opera House continues to serve as a cultural anchor for Pocahontas County, presenting year-round programming that reflects both regional heritage and contemporary creativity.

Tickets are available for a $10 suggested donation, with free admission for those 17 and under.

Support for the Opera House is provided in part by the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History and other generous sponsors and donors.
