On August 14 at 5 p.m., the well renowned musician and songwriter, Eli Lev from Silver Springs, Maryland will be performing at Hawk Knob Cidery in Lewisburg. Eli has been touring across the United States and internationally for the last two years. He sings, plays acoustic guitar, harmonica and a native flute he learned to play on a Navajo reservation, during his travel.
When I asked Eli why he became a musician, he said he was in a marching band in high school, has always written silly songs and has been around music his entire life. His mother sings and plays guitar and his father plays the oboe. Eli also added that music is like therapy for him. It helps him process emotions and connect with others. He believes music makes the world a better place, therefore he writes songs that everyone can enjoy regardless of age or musical taste. Eli is an avid traveler making his music about travel, adventure, nature and positivity.
Eli’s main goal as a musician is breaking down the divisions that we put between ourselves and bringing people together through music. “Music makes you free to connect, relax and get away from the screens.” Said Eli.
Eli advises all aspiring artists to enjoy the process, whether you are learning an instrument or writing for the first time, all of it is part of the journey. It makes it easier if you take it all in.
