Kelsie Dolin, a West Virginia native from Boone County, has made it into the next round of the American Idol singing and performance competition. Viewers learned that Dolin successfully made it through the duets part of the competition.

The next round of American Idol is tonight, Monday, April 4 at 8 p.m. This evening’s performances are expected to be the last round of competition before the live performance phase of American Idol.

Dolin, 18, is currently unemployed and was raised by her grandparents. Her grandparents took over custody of her and her sister before the state of West Virginia could. She said her sister was born with an opioid addiction

Dolin told the public that her grandmother had passed away in September because of heart problems and COVID. Dolin said she was auditioning for her grandmother because her grandmother always wanted her to sing in church.
