Wild & Willowful: Kindness, A Classic.

For most of us, the new year represents some sort of new beginning. It’s a time where we get to reflect back on the year that has passed so that we can positively and excitedly move into the future.  Every year, I make new resolutions of goals and challenges that I want to meet in the year ahead, and although each year some of my resolutions change, there is one that always remains the same; to preserve and maintain old relationships with family and friends.  Time moves so fast, and giving attention to the ones I love helps me to stay grounded and happy while giving me the support I need to expand in the new year.

As I move into this new year, I have lots of changes ahead.

As I move into this new year, I have lots of changes ahead.  I am going to graduate high school and start my next chapter at college.  That is why, that one resolution that I hold in my heart each year, rings especially important and true to me this time around.  I always think it is crucial to move energetically into the future, but still, always carry the most important parts of the past with you.

I know you may not be getting ready to face the same changes as me, but I think we can all agree that being close to loved ones is always a gift and one that should never be taken for granted after these past couple of years we’ve had.  I don’t know about you, but these recent intense ups and downs that we’ve all faced in one way or another have made me realize just how important and precious each moment is, and that even a simple holiday dinner at a table with family, or a New Years celebration with friends is a treasure that we should always hold on to.

In this new year, I have a simple message for everybody; let us all spread kindness, and be sure to make the most of every moment we have together.

Perhaps Robert Burns said it best in the 1788 New Year’s classic Let us all “take a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne.”
