Thankful for Blackwell’s & Local Pizzerias around the Holidays!

[acx_slideshow name="Blackwells"]

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times for pizzerias.

With so much food available around this holiday, pizza is collectively viewed as fast, convenient, and comforting. The American Pizza Community (yes, this exists), states that pizza is a family’s top choice before busy holidays for the following reasons: it’s a low stress option; it brings families together; it’s affordable; and it’s customizable to satisfy every taste. We are thankful for Greenbrier County’s local pizzerias around the holidays and suggest you order your pizza from some of the best local spots. A few great options in the valley include April’s Pizzeria, 50 East, and Bella Italy in White Sulphur Springs; and the Humble Tomato, Hill and Holler Pizza, Del Sol Cantina & Grille, Alfredo’s, and Blackwell’s Catering in downtown Lewisburg.

Blackwell’s Holiday To-Go Menu is worth gobbling up!

If you are fortunate on Thanksgiving Day, your meal will be a perfectly carved turkey with mounds of mashed potatoes, cranberry, stuffing, green beans, and a heaping helping of gravy. With the holiday right around the corner, Blackwell’s “Holiday To-Go Menu” is worth gobbling up! The prix fixe menu is so extensive, there are options for everyone.

Each meal serves 6-8 people and some starters include the sautéed lump crab cakes with Cajun tartar sauce; petite beef tenderloin medallions on crostini with mustard horseradish sauce; and the Tillamook cheddar, French brie, gorgonzola cheese tray with breads. A few holiday buffet essentials are the roasted/smoked turkey breast with cranberry relish; baked brown sugar glazed spiral ham; and roasted beef tenderloins with garlic and mustard and horseradish sauce. The sides are traditional and everything you want this Thanksgiving and Christmas; and the sweets menu is full of variety. Thanksgiving is just one of those holidays where you can’t stop thinking about food and from planning your menu, the feast is just the best and you can’t go wrong with Blackwell’s.

Back to pizza… It’s fast and it’s good

Back to pizza… with so much food available, this is the nation’s convenient choice before and after the big day. It’s fast and it’s good. Blackwell’s Catering offers a large variety of gourmet pies including The Greek with fresh spinach, feta, red onion, kalamata olives, and garlic; Margherita; Gorgie Porgie Pie with bacon, sausage, and gorgonzola; and the Supreme with all the toppings.

This restaurant has been in business for 14 years and is located in the former Greenbrier Valley Baking Company (GVBC) since 2016. Owner/operator, LeeAnn Gillilan, says she took the opportunity to morph this space into a café while continuing the tradition of serving European style breads, pizza, and desserts.

Popular menu items at Blackwell’s

Some of LeeAnn’s most popular menu items are the burgers made with locally sourced beef; shaved cheesesteaks with thin sliced NY strip steak with sautéed onion and peppers; regular or thin-crust pizzas; smoked trout salad with mixed greens, sweet peppers, red onion, and parmesan shavings; tender kale caesar salads; the “your way” omelet; assorted pastries; bagels, and daily quiche with mixed greens and vegetable salad.

Since Covid regulations took effect, LeeAnn began a catering program called “Menus for Sharing” and it has been highly received by the community.  Similar to the holiday menu, there is a wide variety of starters, buffet essentials, sides, and sweets all serving 6-8 people.
