Shoes for the Soul at The Shoebox in Lewisburg

Forget big-box retailers this holiday season…

Lewisburg is bristling with independently owned boutiques that sell everything from apparel to vintage finds to antiques and art to fine crafts. In September of this year, Amanda Workman opened The Shoe Box, a boutique specializing in shoes for the entire family.

There are athletic and casual styles, all the way to men’s dress shoes. Really, something for everyone. You can find brands’ Clarks, Stride Rite, Saucony, KEDS, Sanuk, Brooks, Teva, Florsheim, and Earth. There are also brands you may not recognize but are worth learning more about including Bionica, Comfortiva, Nurse Mates, Align, and Billy Footwear.

Shoes and accessories just go together, right?

You can find wallets, bags, purses, belts, bracelets, socks, and even rain gear for your children.

Good, quality shoes have always been important to Amanda

Amanda tells us Lewisburg is a special town that has always been attractive to her and her husband. “My husband and I always joked that we would retire in Lewisburg someday, we just got here a little sooner than retirement age, which is totally fine with us! From the time we moved here, over 8 years ago, it has felt like home and we are happy to be planting our roots here for us and our children.”

Amanda tells us “Good, quality shoes have always been important to me.” From a young age, she can remember her mother and grandmother always saying, “’You need to have a good pair of shoes…’ Well, at that young age I didn’t really know what the definition of good shoes was. Did that mean, name brand? Popular? Good for church or good for play? I didn’t know! As I grew older and played sports, wore too many flip flops, and focused on what looked good rather than what WAS actually good; my feet, legs and back quickly told me what good shoes were.”

Shoe shopping can be overwhelming and frustrating, but Amanda doesn’t want it to be!

Amanda learned the true importance of having a good foundation for the body. This need for herself and family has now developed into a passion to serve others. “I always felt that it would be rewarding to have a shoe store where people could be fitted for their shoes. They could come and experience true customer service and ensure a proper, comfortable fit. Shoe shopping can be overwhelming and frustrating, but I don’t want it to be! I want customers to visit The Shoe Box and feel comfortable knowing that I want what is best for them and their feet.” Amanda goes onto say that it’s great when you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort.

Most of the inventory is recognized by the American Podiatric Medical Association. The APMA Seal of Acceptance and Seal of Approval are granted to products found to promote good foot health. “If you think comfortable, supportive and practical that’s what you’ll find at The Shoe Box.” Amanda goes onto say that it’s great when you don’t have to sacrifice fashion for comfort. She works to keep this in mind when updating inventory.

What makes this store unique to town is the selection and service.

Amanda says her sittings with fittings (called “Sit & Fit”) is a one-on-one experience. This may be something that feels outdated but patrons of all ages benefit. Amanda says she has received overwhelming support and encouragement for her business model. “Many customers have stopped in to express their genuine excitement for a shoe store that carries good quality, everyday footwear. It’s been great to know that The Shoe Box fills a need in this community.”

Confidently receive a proper shoe fitting, have a positive shopping experience, and leave with comfortable, stylish, quality shoes at The Shoebox. It’s located at 847 Court Street North, near the Greenbrier Valley Visitor’s Center and across from Corn + Flour. Everything in the store is available to purchase online at theshoeboxwv.com. Hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday from 10a-6p, Saturday and Monday from 10a-4p. Connect with Amanda’s store on insta and fb @theshoeboxwv.
