Friday, Sept 11: 911 First Responders Host 6th Annual Parade of Lights in Lewisburg

On Friday, September 11, 2020 Greenbrier County emergency 911 responders will hold the 6th Annual Parade of Lights at the State Fair of West Virginia Midway in Lewisburg. This special event is in remembrance of their many comrades who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, and in the years since that tragic day.

This annual event began with about 18 fire and other emergency vehicles and has grown into one of the largest in the region.

The tribute will begin at 5:30pm at the State Fairgrounds Midway in Fairlea with activities and demonstrations of various emergency equipment including a:

  • Show and tell of all apparatus
  • Landing of Helicopter
  • Department of Corrections Special Operations K-9 Unit and Greenbrier County K-9 Unit

The festivities will also feature a parade of lights on a loop through Fairlea and Lewisburg. Upon return to the fairgrounds, a solemn candlelight vigil will close the evening.

Everyone is invited to participate in the activities. There will be plenty of public parking on the grounds — and to line the parade route from Fairlea to the Gateway Commons commercial plaza near I-64 in Lewisburg.

This event is sponsored by Greenbrier County Fire & Emergency Responders Association. For more information, follow Greenbrier County First Responders on facebook.
