The phrase “be careful what you wish for” takes on a whole new meaning in the Stephen Soundheim and James Lapine musical, Into The Woods. This magical musical runs June 21st until July 6 (see show dates below) Greenbrier Valley Theatre in downtown Lewisburg. The blend of Brother Grimm style fairytales begins with everyone getting their wishes granted, but what happens when wishes turn into chaos?
The magic behind each of the featured fairytales comes to life on stage through this enchanting musical. Into The Woods features princes trying to find their princesses, Little Red trying to visit her grandmother but finding a wolf instead, a Baker and his wife trying to break a witch’s curse and Jack who has a surprise guest arrive after he plants his magical beanstalk. When things don’t quite go as planned, the fairytale community has to come together to save each other and their kingdom.
Into The Woods runs June 21 – 22, June 26 – 29, July 3, July 5 – 6 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee production June 22 at 2:30 p.m. and a Pay-What-You-Can Preview Performance June 20 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 for general adult admission, $27 for seniors (60+) and $20 for children/students.
